1st of all these are the edited versions of the postcard after friday's tutorial. I was told that the design was really too simple and it only showed part of asia. Hence I decided to make it a 3x3 puzzle with my elements and icons that can be found throughtout asia. It was a real headache deciding on the colour schemes to be used, there was just too many and I really had to mix and match to find a suitable mix pleasing to the eye , at least. If there's one cool thing I like about photoshop, thats the bevel and emboss effect, it created a 3d bamboo which looked really neat.

I've chosen the Sunny colour scheme as my choice. It reflects the warm weather of Asia through the various shades of orange and yellow. The black coloured icons and fonts stand out due to its high contrast with the brighter colours. I chose pale green for the bamboo so that it does not compete with the puzzle for attention.

This image was actually the orignial pcs created by me and CK during the lecture. Pretty obvious that it describes silence and disorder, cheers.



This is really simple stuff using lines to represent the state of disorder. The handdrawn pic didn't give the feeling of a barcode, which is why I decided to use CG to better put my point across.

Assignment 4

*edit* Removed the one with logos and replaced another with my very own broken clock !!!(already spoiled so it doesn't really matter) Since I have to abide by the very rule that all photos used in this course must be from primary sources.

I actually decided to advertise my friend's website, which really gave me a chuckle looking at it. Lai Kao Peh is actually a hokkien term for everyone to gather and talk about anything under the sun. The 1st poster is actually a draft and I particularly liked the glowing text, something which I learnt 2 days ago. But because of the dark background, which gives it a night setting, something that actually doesn’t really fit into my friend’s website, so I decided to change into a lighter background.

The difference between the 2 posters is actually the logos and banners used in the website, which I’m not sure if it can be used for the poster. The broken clock, which I figured would give the poster an impression that time can be killed. The only problem it seems now is that whether stock photos can be used for the poster design…

Assignment 3

Some adjustments need to be done after friday's tutorial..

pic 2: Could go a little clearer.

pic 3: probably take a shot including the table by the side as well, which includes the study table and computer table. The picture could use some brightness too.

pic4: Need a shot of both ppl, including me working on my assignment on the computer.

pic5 & 6: Shane suggested a little twist to the story, instead of my bro trying to switch off my computer, I could have pic 5 replaced with a shot of a fan spinning. Pic 6 would end up having me pulling my shirt, indicating that the weather is hot.

I might try his suggestion, but pic 1 kinda loses meaning if that's the case. Time for some consultation.
